The season ended with a bang for
many of the Patriots this weekend, as our boys claimed their 11th
DPS League Championship in the last 12 years.
GW continued its total domination
of DPS by winning all 11 swimming events and taking second in the
diving. The final score was:
GW 400
EAST: 353
TJ: 277
Montbello: 107
Our team swam incredibly well in
Friday's prelims as 15 out of our 18 athletes qualified for "swim
back" in the finals on Saturday. Finals qualifiers included:
-
Kevin B-N.
-
Henry B.
-
Xavier B.
-
Sean C.
-
Chris E.
-
Ben H.
-
Kyle H.

The highlight of the meet was
Xavier's second State Qualifying time in the 200 free. He will
be joining the rest of the State Swimmer in next weekend's 5A
Colorado State Championship in Ft. Collins (Jake, Dan, Ben, Kevin,
Seth, Kyle, and Richard).
Four event winners included Jake,
Dan, and Ben. But, everyone swam well and even our newest
swimmers scored valuable team points.
Special thanks this week to the
Witter family who hosted a team spaghetti dinner on the Thursday
night before prelims. The boy's team does not get together
very often, so it was very nice of them to have everyone over to
their house for some team building, poker, and Rock Band.

The victory was a bit
bittersweet, however, as our adopted mascot, GEORGE and our League
Championship trophy were both kidnapped by the East Angels!
